WCU students came to listen to visiting authors as they read thrilling, heart-warming, and inspiring excerpts from their greatest works at the Sixth Annual Spring Literary Festival from April 7-10, 2008.
New at Western Carolina is a club for students interested in fishing, and other outdoor activities. Cameron Street Hamrick and Jeff White brought Ducks Unlimited recently to this campus. "We've had an awesome turn out, everyone's having a great time" said Hamrick.
Joel Marchesoni, Jenni Giles, Sarah Hipp, Kristi Whitehead and myself founded the WCU Green Party, formally the WCU Campus Greens, in spring of 2007. We sprang from all of ours desire to have another political party available on campus. Our "coming out" was the Wellness Fair that semester where we worked on informing folks about the Green Party and how it is working on better health for all of us; petitioning for ballot access.
10 Of course, no one deserves to be the victims of theft, but Einstein's Deli charges something like sixteen dollars for a plain bagel. I'm not saying stealing a purse full of plastic silverware and sweet and low packets is okay, I'm just saying that in terms of theft, there's plenty of accusations to go around.
All over the United States, students attending college aim to get the best grades and get the most out of their education. Some of these students don't have as easy a chore as others, though. Along with the stress of making the grade and the finances that college requires, a number of college students have to also worry about disabilities they have been living with for either a short period or their whole life.
CULLOWHEE-On the weekend of March 28th, Western Carolina's men's baseball team took two of three from UNC-Greensboro to earn their first Southern Conference series victory of the season at Childress Field/Hennon Stadium. A controversial call from the first base umpire saw senior Blake Murphy only eligible to play in two of the three games, because he was ejected in the bottom of the eighth inning of game two for arguing and slamming his helmet.
