My daughter is a student at WCU. I find the on going discussions about the bell interesting. I found the bell to be a very nice amenity to the campus during my visits there. I can certainly understand problems overnight, so why not just have it programmed to shut down from 11PM to 6 AM. That way, people can get some sleep, it will be an alarm for some in the morning and you will still have the quaintness during the day.
When I was growing up, I remember lots of bells around my town. It’s a shame they have gone away. Keep the bells. You don’t know what you’d be missing if they were gone.
