Poet Glenis Redmond will perform at Western Carolina University on Monday, February 26, at 9 p.m.
The reading will take place in Illusions Dance Club, located in the A.K. Hinds University Center. Tickets for the show are $2 for WCU students, $4 for non-students.
Redmond performs original poetry, which tells stories about her life and African-American heritage, teaching audiences to respect their own stories.
“It’s the way her words draw you into a seemingly innocuous subject and singe you with the fury of intelligence scorned,” said London Time Out magazine.
An international performer, Redmond has won numerous awards and fellowships, including the Carrie McCray Literary Award, and study fellowships with the Vermont Writing Center and the Atlantic Center for the Arts.
