Western Carolina University’s Catamount Club will hold its annual Athletic Scholarship Auction at the Speedway Club at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in the Charlotte area on Saturday, June 2.
The auction has become the cornerstone event in Catamount Club efforts to raise funds to provide athletic scholarships for men and women student-athletes at WCU.
“Thanks to fund-raising efforts such as this year’s Catamount Club Athletic Auction, I was provided the scholarship aid I needed to obtain my degree in industrial distribution,” said Brad Hoover of the Carolina Panthers.Hoover, who played collegiately at WCU before joining the NFL’s Panthers, will be in attendance at the June 2 auction. Among the items available to the highest bidder are Super Bowl tickets, ACC Tournament tickets, Final Four tickets, Masters tickets, beach resort packages, cabin getaways, airline tickets, Charlotte Hornet and Carolina Panther tickets, golf packages, NASCAR items and autographed NFL merchandise.
This marks the third straight year that the auction has been held at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord. Previous fund-raisers have been held in Ericsson Stadium in Charlotte. Proceeds from last year’s event brought approximately $50,000 to WCU’s athletic scholarship fund, and the goal for this year’s event is $60,000.
The event begins at 6pm with a social and silent auction. Dinner and the live auction will follow at 8pm. Cost of attending the social, dinner and auction is $50 per person, $85 per couple, or $320 per table of 10. Reservations are required by May 14, and may be made by mailing a check to:
