WCU Food Scam?By: Amy Swanger
Has anyone other than me noticed that everything in the C3 store is terribly overpriced? Isn’t $6.99 for a 12-pack of sodas not too much? At that price we could buy 12 individual sodas out of the soda machines and still save a little money. Or how about $4.95 for a box of cereal, and not a big one at that? In most grocery stores you can get the same box of Frosted Flakes they are trying to sell you in the C3 store for $4.95 for only $2.50-$3.50. Yet another item overpriced is the Chef Boyardee products. A can of Chef Boyardee Ravioli in the C3 store costs $1.79, but that same can of ravioli at Wal-Mart is on $0.98. The problem is not only over-prices food, but old food at that. I frequently buy yogurt at the C3 store and recently I bought some yogurt and when I got it back to my dorm room I realized it was out of date. I took it back to the store and told the attendant, but the next day I checked the yogurt in the fridge at the store and there was still out of date yogurt being sold. A few days later I was back in the store and noticed someone purchasing that out of date yogurt and had to warn them and show them the old date. As much food as the students of WCU consumber, one would think that they could get food that isn’t expired. I am tired of paying too much for food at the C3 store. Just because my money is on a card and called meal points doesn’t mean I value it any less. If your tired of paying too much for food that you could get at the grocery store or Wal-Mart for half of the price let food services know.
