On Sunday, April 29 at 3 p.m., the show “That Mancini Magic!” will take place in the John W. Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center.
“That Mancini Magic!” showcases the talents of Mac Frampton and The Moon River Orchestra, featuring Cecil Welch. The show consists of two acts for a total of 21 pieces. Pieces include “Romeo & Juliet,” “James Bond Suite,” “The Pink Panther” and many more. Henry Mancini wrote all of the pieces being preformed.
Mac Frampton is a highly talented pianist. Frampton graduated from Erskine College before earning his master’s and doctorate degrees in piano performance from the Cincinnati Conservatory. Frampton was also recognized with a special medal at the world-famous Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. For close to 40 years, Frampton performed in the United States, Canada and Europe.
After graduating from Georgia Tech, Cecil Welch was chosen to be the principal trumpet in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Henry Mancini heard Welch perform at a concert and hired him as a solo trumpeter. For more than two decades, Welch toured with Mancini. Welch performed at notable places like The Hollywood Bowl and The London Philharmonic.
