SECOND NABBED AGAIN, $5000 IN COMPETITION

For the second consecutive year, a team from WCU finished second at the annual American Express Financial Planning Invitational. The competition pits students from universities across the nation against each other, with only their financial planning abilities and their wits to aid them.

The WCU team consisted of finance majors Michael H. Bird, Lisa M. Boyd, and Dwayne W. Powell, who created a financial plan for a fictional family for the event.

All three students received a prize of $650 for their second place finish in addition to the $5,000, which will go to the financial planning scholarship fund.

In each of the three years of the event, a team from WCU has finished in the top three.
