I wanted to take a few moments to alert Western Carolina students about a very important, yet rarely talked about topic – male circumcision. Currently, there is an essay contest for college students nationwide, “Is Circumcision Ethical?” The first prize winner will receive $1,000. It is crucial that college students – the future parents and health care professionals of America – consider whether the practice of removing healthy genital tissue from children without medical indication is ethical.
