Purple/Gold Spring Scrimmage Sunday

The Western Carolina football squad will complete its 2001 spring practices with the annual Purple-Gold Scrimmage, held Sunday (April 8), at E.J. Whitmire Stadium. The team will take the field at approximately 2 p.m., with the first snap set to take place at 2:30 p.m. Admission and parking will be free.

The team has been divided into two squads and will play in game-like conditions. The format includes four, 20-minute quarters with a running clock. After a score, the ball will be placed at the 35 yard line. Each punt will be fair caught and played from the spot.

Other events in conjunction with the Purple-Gold Scrimmage include an Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by Wal-Mart of Sylva, open for children 10-and-under at halftime. A bar-b-que in the Ramsey Center Hospitality Room for all fans at the conclusion. The cost for a plate is $6.50 per person.
