Next year’s team will be selected during the weekend of April 27-29, 2001. The new team will perform for athletic events during the fall and spring semesters of the 2001-2002 school year as well as other Western North Carolina community events. If you have had formal dance training and love to perform, please plan to attend the weekend workshop and tryouts.
To be eligible for dance team membership, one must be a full time student at WCU for the school year 2001-2002.
WORKSHOP – will begin on Friday, April 27 at 6:00 p.m. in Breese gym and continue on Saturday, April 28 at 10:00 a.m. with a morning session and an afternoon session in Ramsey auxiliary gym. Sunday morning, April 29, will be used for review. The purpose of the workshop is to teach the dances and review dance technique to be performed during tryouts.
TRYOUTS – will be held on Sunday, April 29 at 2:00 p.m. in Ramsey auxiliary gym. Tryouts will include the two dances learned during workshop, plus technical moves reviewed during workshop. Selection will also be based on showmanship, appearance, and an interview. For tryouts on Sunday wear a cropped top, form fitted pants, and dance shoes.
APPLICATIONS – and a detailed schedule can be picked up at the information desk in HFR Administration Building and the University Center.
