New Radio Station on Campus

Most students on campus have the Mountains Most Power Mix of Music, Power 90.5. However, over the past year Western has been approved for a new radio station on campus called WCAT. Stationed on the first floor in the Student Media Center, WCAT will be like its counterpart in that it will be student maintained. It will also be broadcast through the campus internet and TV system so students can listen in dorm rooms. Assistant Director of Student Media and Marketing, Katherine Smith said, “the new station will play a variety of music and will be an open-format.” Currently Power 90.5 plays 60’s and 70’s music since the signal reaches areas with residents of that time. Students will be able to request a song which can also be done with Power 90.5. Smith said, “studio instillation will be starting at the end of the month.” The General Major will be Senior Brandon Tigue. All students that are interested in helping with the production are encouraged to call for more information. Future updates will be added in later issues.
