Ceillie Simkiss was named a photographer at the Western Carolina during the 2011 fall semester. She became a staff writer in the Arts and Entertainment beat in the fall of 2012. In August 2013, she signed on for one of the designer positions. She and Jamie North work with InDesign CS6 to create each newspaper issue. Ceillie designed Section B, which includes Arts and Entertainment and Features. In spring 2013, she won Best Arts and Entertainment Award for “‘Rashomon‘ tells tall tales with stunning choreography.”
Ceillie is a junior communications major at Western Carolina University with a concentration in journalism and a minor in art. She is originally from Fuquay-Varina, N.C.
Ceillie enjoys reading, listening to Fall Out Boy and rescues betta fish.
