Both the Catamounts and Lady Catamounts featured players earning regular season honors. Junior forward Cory Largent and freshman center Rans Brempong were honored on the men’s side, while junior forward Laura Echols and freshman forward Tiffany Hamm were recognized for the women’s squad.
Largent was named to the All-Southern Conference second team. He led the Cats and was sixth in the SoCon with 15.7 points per game. He also ranked ninth in the conference in three-point percentage, 12th in defensive rebounding, and 14th in free throw percentage.
Meanwhile, Brempong earned a spot on the Southern Conference All-Freshman team. The first-year center from Canada won a name for himself by leading the conference in blocks with 3.03 per game.
At the same time, this mark was good enough for 13th in the nation. He also averaged 7.7 points and 5.9 boards per contest, while starting in 20 of the squad’s 29 regular season games.
For the Lady Cats, Laura Echols was selected as a member of the All-Southern Conference first team for the second straight season. She led the conference with 17.5 points per game while standing fifth in rebounding with a 6.9 average.
Additionally, she was named to the Verizon Academic All District 3 second team. A 3.52 GPA, as a chemistry major, earned her these accolades.
Finally, Hamm was highlighted as the Freshman of the Year in the Southern Conference. In her first collegiate season, Hamm scored 12.3 points per game for ninth in the conference. Her .768 free throw percentage and .496 field goal percentage put her ninth and tenth in the SoCon standings, respectively.
