The Western Carolina University music department will present a joint faculty recital Thursday, March 29.
The 8pm concert will take place in the recital hall of the Coulter Building at WCU. It is open to the public and free of charge.
Brent Edstrom, assistant professor of music, will present a piece for flute and piano, new compositions for keyboard and electronic wind instrument, and piano interpretations of the music of Duke Ellington.
Bruce Frazier, an Emmy Award-winning music editor, conductor and composer who holds Western’s Carol Grotnes Belk Distinguished Professorship, will present a new composition for electronic instruments, inspired by the photomontages of German artist Hannah Hoch, the foremost female “Dada” artist of the 20th century.
The Catamount Chamber Singers also will join Frazier to perform several of his recent choral works, including his setting of the Twenty-Third Psalm.
