Alternative rock band The Evinrudes will perform at Western Carolina University Thursday, March 29.
The concert will take place at Illusions nightclub, on the third floor of the A.K. Hinds University Center, at 9pm. Tickets are $2 for Western students with valid identification and $4 for all others.
Formed in Nashville in 1995, the band is fronted by vocalist Sherry Cothran and writer/guitarist Brian Reed. In 1996, the group released its first independent label compact disc and built a grass-roots fan base. A year later, the band released a five-song recording and the song “Drive Me Home” became a regional hit, which was later featured in the popular Fox television series “Party of Five.” In 1998, they signed with major label Mercury Records.
