150 college representatives from across the United States and overseas, have re-elected Gordon E. Mercer to another three-year term as the Pi Gamma Mu president. Since 1924, Pi Gamma Mu has been aimed at the top social science students.
Their goal is to immerse the students in thought provoking and instructive activities, and to help them develop their skills in leadership and wisdom as well as academics.
Mercer is also a WCU professor of political science and public affairs, and currently teaches American government courses.
“He has received multiple awards, such as WCU’s Paul A. Reid Distinguished Service Award in 1998 and the N.C. Political Science Association’s Distinguished Service Award in 2005.”
