Tiffany Barnwell has been chosen to fill the News Editor vacancy for the spring 2009 semester at the Western Carolinian.
A junior majoring in Journalism and minoring in Philosophy, Barnwell was the editor of her high school newspaper her senior year and has interned twice at the Hendersonville Times-News, a daily newspaper in Hendersonville, North Carolina. While a student at Blue Ridge Community College in Flat Rock, North Carolina, she also served as the editor for the Ridge Writer, which is the school’s creative arts and news magazine.
“I’m excited that Tiffany Barnwell has joined the Western Carolinian as our News Editor,” said Editor-in-Chief Justin Caudell. “Her experiences in journalism thus far will be an asset to our news writers and our readers. I look forward to having her on our team.”
“Being appointed News Editor presents me not only journalistic opportunity, but also a chance to enlighten my overall perspective of how my character will develop through working with fellow editors, writers, and staff,” said Barnwell. “My goal at Western Carolina University is to bring the best out of myself-whether it be on an academic or social basis.”
